Ribbon Cutting Celebrates New Electric Vehicle Charging Station at The Center at Kentucky Highlands
London, KY — Community leaders, energy partners, and regional stakeholders gathered in front of The Center at Kentucky Highlands to celebrate the ribbon cutting of a new Electric Vehicle charging station that expands sustainable transportation options for the London community and surrounding region.
The new charging station was made possible through generous donations from Jackson Energy, Adopt‑a‑Charger, and CoBank. Charging at The Center is available at no cost, reinforcing a shared commitment to accessibility, innovation, and economic development.
Attendees included the President and CEO of Jackson Energy, Ryan Henderson, and Lisa Baker, Executive Administrative Assistant. “Jackson Energy is proud to play a role in expanding reliable EV infrastructure in our communities,” said Henderson. “This project shows what can happen when organizations come together with a shared vision for innovation and opportunity. We’re excited to help provide free, public charging that supports both local growth and the future of energy in our region,” said Henderson.
Also present were Solclusion Energy Group’s representatives, Brent Boyd, Daryl Blessing, and Stuart Ungar. “Solclusion is delighted to continue the legacy of building ‘fee-free EV Charging’ across the tri-state region”, said Boyd. “These are the kinds of locations Solclusion and its national partner, Adopt a Charger, actively seek out, putting mission over profit.”
Showing their support were solar energy experts Josh Bills and Hope Broecker of Mountain Association, whose work supports clean energy adoption and cost-saving solutions for communities and small businesses across the region. Sandi Curd represented Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation, which operates The Center as a hub for entrepreneurship, workforce development, and regional collaboration. “This charging station reflects the power of partnerships and our region’s forward-looking approach to infrastructure and economic growth,” said Curd. “By offering free access to EV charging, we are supporting residents, visitors, and businesses of Eastern Kentucky.”
The Electric Vehicle charging station is now open and available to the public.
